It’s at number 10 on Milan’s buzzing Via Savona that we find the most recent project by the Italian restaurateur Enrico Buonocore.
Langosteria Cucina is right next door to his first restaurant – an adventure that started in 2007 and, which to date, already includes six restaurants, not only in Milan, one of the world’s fashion capitals, but also in Paraggi and Paris. The Langosteria Cucina is an extension of what has made the group so successful: a fine dining concept with seafood being the main attraction.
In this new space, the entrepreneur wanted customers to feel as if they were at a friend’s house, rather than dining out. To this end, he enlisted the help of Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran, co-founders of Dimorestudio, also based in Milan, who transformed it into a cosy place, without losing an ounce of sophistication. “We wanted to convey an intimate, domestic feeling to the project, creating a space that people wouldn’t normally expect in a restaurant,” says the duo, who drew inspiration from 1970s design and some Japanese influences.

The walls lined with jute, dark wood, subdued lighting and the warm colours of some elements all contribute to the feeling of cosiness, but it’s the framed photographs, illustrations and maps, as well as the display cabinets with tableware, books and globes, that transport us to the homes of those friends, those with busy lives, the kind of friends whose stories we never tire of listening to.
