At the top of the famous ski resort "Le Massif de Charlevoix", Bertha is the latest project from the Perron design studio. Overlooking the mountains, this chalet is a relaxing retreat designed for large families with a passion for nature.
Signed by Canadian studio Perron, Bertha is the new family chalet at Le Massif de Charlevoix. Able to accommodate almost twenty guests, the property was designed to be a space of relaxation and well-being for people to feel at home. With Nordic inspirations, the project was conceived as a private and luxurious retreat - a sort of boutique hotel.

‘We decided to play the 'hotel' card down to the smallest detail, including placing the crockery in the cupboards, the luggage trolley in the hallway, and the Bertha labeled shower products and toothbrushes in the bathrooms’, explains Sarah Ève Hébert, Perron's designer. Despite the similar décor, each suite has a different colour palette and a different name, inspired by the word 'snow' in several languages.

An eclectic chalet
Inspired by the mountains and the Nordic style, the chalet's design is minimalist, cosy and functional. The studio favoured natural materials such as wood, indoor plants and wool, as well as soft colours and simple lines. ‘We punctuated the ensemble, very neutral and minimalist, with textured, colorful and unusual elements for Quebec’, says the designer. ‘We wanted to infuse it with a sense of Nordicity, pleasure, and eclecticism’.

A yellow piano in the living room, a red slide with access to the games room and a colourful ambience in the dining room: the Perron studio team combined different materials, colours and concepts that together radiate the positive energy the client wanted.

From the mountain to the living room
On the ground floor, a room whose suspended fireplace takes center stage, invites guests to relax after a day in the snow. In this space, the brick floor has been designed so that people can enter the house with wet boots.

The ground floor is reserved for children - with a climbing wall, a swing, a slide and furniture designed specifically for the little ones, this space has been designed so that children can play in a safe and fun environment.

On the upper floor are the common spaces: a large lounge, inspired by hotel lobbies; a kitchen equipped with professional materials suitable for a Chef to work with; and the bar and wine cellar perfect for an evening after the snow.

Throughout the property, there are unique pieces imported from Europe, accompanied by cushions and rugs handmade by locals from L'Isle-aux-Coudres.

For a holiday in the mountains, Bertha is a Nordic-inspired chalet-hotel whose design honours European prestige and Quebec charm.
