An architectural haven for art, design and history lovers. Designed by Néstor Pérez Batista, Casa Montelongo honours Fuerteventura's heritage, combining tradition and modernity.
The latest project by Spanish architect Néstor Pérez Batista was created from the ruins of an old 19th-century house in the heart of La Oliva. With a strong focus on design and minimalist aesthetics, Casa Montelongo, comprising two independent units, is an idyllic destination designed to relax and immerse in the calm and tranquillity throughout the property.
One of the architect's key objectives in designing Casa Montelongo was to establish a seamless connection between the house's divisions and the courtyard. Each space was meticulously designed, with strategic connections to the outside area through gaps in the interior façades. This design strategy allowed the patio area to seamlessly blend with both residential units, creating a harmonious living experience.
Careful attention to aspects such as lighting, spatial geometry, thermal comfort and privacy allows the house to be experienced as a whole, providing a sense of peace, perfect for reflection and contemplation of the surrounding landscape. The rooms, bathed in natural light, create an atmosphere of transparency and spaciousness, blurring the boundaries between inside and out.
On the patio, at the back of the pool, is a piece of artwork by Óscar Latuag - a beautiful representation of the island's natural heritage. The interplay between sunlight and the abstract shapes of the sculpture creates a captivating play of shadows on the wall, adding an extra dimension to this stunning representation of Fuerteventura's native nature.
