Spanish studio Masquespacio has presented its latest project for the takeaway sushi chain Ichi Station in Milan.

Despite already having several spaces, with this new restaurant, the founder of the sushi chain, Yango Zhang, intended to favour the dining experience. A trip and a transport station inspired the previously developed identity for the remaining Ichi spaces. Thus, Masquespacio proposed evolving that identity into something more conceptual, maintaining its essence, but moving away from the literal and traditional representations of travel. The result is a journey into the future through light.

Inspired by the 90s, the Spanish design studio created a representation of a journey through a light that transports customers to discover the eclectic flavours of the restaurant while dining in a spaceship of the future.

As in all Masquespacio projects, a personal language was created to generate a personalized identity with custom-made furniture. A detail to highlight in this project is the glass tables with interior lighting that further enhance the dining experience for customers.

Regarding the choice of materials, the idea was to use simple and pure materials, such as glass and micro cement, to create homogeneous surfaces that would remind us of the spacecraft we intend to present.

The element that stands out the most is, however, visible in the second part of the restaurant, where the ceiling has been lowered as much as possible and where a half sphere leads to a tunnel into the future to watch a live performance by the sushi chefs of the Ichi.

Finally, we highlight using an indirect lighting system using RGB colours that transform the environment depending on the time of day.
