The aim of the project was to create a fresh and inspiring hotel that values the beauty of the existing architecture.
The intervention consisted of transforming a single-family house from the end of the 18th century or the beginning of the 19th century into a hotel with eight rooms divided into a basement, ground floor, first and second floors, and attic.

The building is located on two emblematic streets in the historic centre of Maó (Menorca), Anuncivay and Sant Ferran, and was the home of Joan Roca Vivent, merchant and promoter of Maó's idiosyncrasies. For 50 years, Roca Vivent wrote his Crónica de Maó, reflecting his entrepreneurial and frenetic commercial activity and a cosmopolitan life that was fed by the European cultural influences of the Enlightenment.

According to the owners, Ignasi Truyol and Stephanie Mahé, "the building was in a state that required action and renovation to fill it with light; it was very dark; it wasn't very functional either, but the true magic and personality of the place were still very much alive ".

Ignasi and Stephanie entrusted the project to a childhood friend and local architect, Emma Martí, who, like a surgical operation, worked to conserve as many of the building's elements as possible and thus enhance the spirit and character of a unique structure.

The land on which Hevresac is located has a trapezoidal, almost triangular shape. This means that the rooms parallel to the long party wall are rectangular, and those adjacent to rue Sant Ferran are trapezoidal.

The intervention thus sought to fulfil two primary objectives: to conserve the existing architectural elements (plastering, stairs, floors, wooden beams, ceilings, carpentry) and to fill the building with light and life.
