In the creative, ever-evolving neighbourhood of Colegiales, in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, VERDIN emerges not just as a specialty coffee shop, but as an architectural manifesto.
A destination where design, gastronomy and sustainability converge in a space conceived to offer pause, presence, and a reconnection with the natural world. Designed by a dedicated architectural team, VERDIN was envisioned as more than a place to enjoy coffee — it was imagined as a sensory experience, rooted in the brand’s commitment to organic, plant-based offerings and environmental respect. From the outset, every design decision was guided by this ethos.
The colour palette sets the tone: a desaturated green washes over the façade and interior walls, infusing the space with a calm, verdant atmosphere. This is complemented by a terracotta limestone floor that flows in soft, organic curves — forming integrated seating on the ground floor and sculptural planters on the terrace. The architecture itself becomes fluid, accommodating both people and plants in a shared rhythm.
Landscaping plays a pivotal role. On the rooftop terrace, native species were planted to encourage biodiversity and support the local ecosystem. Inside, niches carved into the triple-height wall host vertical vegetation nourished by an integrated irrigation system — transforming the wall into a living canvas of greenery.
Materiality reinforces this narrative. Dark green iron elements echo the primary palette while offering solidity and structure. In contrast, the inclusion of guatambú wood in selected details adds warmth and tactile richness, balancing the industrial with the organic.
But VERDIN's true character lies in its spatial choreography. A folded iron staircase unfolds like a sculpture, where the first steps become seating platforms inspired by natural formations. Upstairs, a spacious lounge with a bar overlooks the vertical garden, creating a tranquil atmosphere that invites relaxation. The worktables and terraces — both the intimate one facing the internal courtyard and the one opening onto the street — offer versatile, inviting environments for work, conversation or quiet moments with a cup of coffee.
VERDIN takes inspiration from the quiet persistence of moss growing through cracks in the pavement — a metaphor for nature’s quiet resilience in the urban landscape. More than a café, VERDIN is a thoughtfully crafted environment that speaks to the desire for meaningful experiences, where nature, colour and organic form come together to offer a refreshing escape from the city’s pace.
