Surrounded by terraces of centuries-old olive trees, orchards and organic vines, the estate is based on ecological principles. Everything that is consumed at Son Brull is produced here.
After a visit to the small town of Deià, we headed to Pollença, surrounded by the picturesque landscape of the Serra da Tramuntana. Just 2km from the town centre, we arrived at Son Brull, an authentic rural sanctuary where silence prevails.
With our suitcases settled, we set off to explore hidden corners while listening to an account of the hotel’s history, which dates back to the Muslim period of the 12th century. ‘Son’ means “mansion” and “Brull” comes from the name of the second owner, Francesc Desbrull. More recently, its history took a new turn when the Suau family acquired the mansion in 1994. After an intensive two-year period of restoration, it opened as the Son Brull Hotel & Spa. The project was realised in collaboration with the architectural practice forteza+aparicio. Originally with 365 windows (the number that gave the hotel’s restaurant its name), some were filled in and gave way to a new architectural composition. The monastic opulence was retained and can still be felt, and in November 2004 Son Brull became a member of the prestigious international Relais & Châteaux association.
Surrounded by terraces of centuries-old olive trees, orchards and organic vines, the estate is based on ecological principles. Everything that is consumed at Son Brull is produced here: oranges for fresh juices, eggs for breakfast, wine and olive oil, among other fresh ingredients featured in the Mediterranean menu at the Bistro restaurant and in the tasting experiences at the 365 restaurant.

As we explore the finca towards the tennis court and through the cultivated areas, a feeling of lightness and tranquillity descends over us.
