Imagine yourself on one of those perfect summer days, wearing light and cool clothes, surrounded by good friends with your only worry being not to let the wine glass run dry.
It is these kinds of sensations that The Madrona evokes. This boutique hotel in the heart of California’s famous Sonoma wine region, was inaugurated in April this year by the celebrated interior designer Jay Jeffers.
Built in 1881, at a time when the Aesthetic movement celebrated beauty more than ever, this property originally belonged to a family of Californians who had a love for travelling the world, collecting objects and inspiration from everywhere they visited. It was precisely this that the American designer tried to reflect in his new project, preserving some pieces from the original owners and reinterpreting that same artistic movement, incorporating new ideas in order to inject even more life and modernity.

“When designing the hotel, it was important for me to respect its historic architecture and 19th century roots, while reinterpreting the property in a way that would be more modern and exciting for today’s traveller”, he says.
