It was in 1934 that a distinctive villa started to be built in Hangzhou, China. This place was to be, at different points, the home of an American embassy and a Chinese bank.
Subsequently sentenced to neglect, it was only more than eight decades later that the villa has been reincarnated as an idyllic refuge, providing a catalyst for the growth of regional tourism. Today, Sisan is truly a hidden gem, where nature and tranquillity are the main hosts.
Simultaneously, rustic, elegant and timeless, the hotel embraces modernity without overlooking the building's past history. This combination of time and style has been achieved thanks to the work of the team of designers led by SYY Decoration Design, who have particularly focused on the real “vestiges” of the history of the villa such as the façades, the moss-covered bricks, the broken handrails and some antique bits and pieces.

Moreover, as an antidote to negativity, bamboo is used throughout the hotel and emphasises a much desired connection with nature.
