Five years after inaugurating Casas Caiadas, Mário Domingues and Paula Cabrito once again demonstrate their love for this town in Portugal's Alentejo region, but this time in the form of an urban refuge.
Drawn by the history and entrepreneurial past of Arraiolos, it was in an old hostel and pastry shop (where, curiously, the famous regional sweetmeat pastel de toucinho was first created) that they spotted the potential to build their most recent project, a three-storey home facing onto two pedestrian streets, with the common areas being limited to the ground floor and the three bedrooms and a suite on the upper floors.

Once again, it was in partnership with the architect Luís Pereira Miguel that they designed this bare and minimalist space, equilibrated by rustic overtones and pieces of contemporary furniture.
