At first glance, it looks just like any other petrol station, but upon closer inspection you realise it’s much more than that.
BBT Hilltop is a burger restaurant in Kuwait City and its acronym leaves no room for any doubt: this is the “Best Burger in Town”.
Completed in 2022, the project is the brainchild of TAEP/AAP, the multidisciplinary architecture and engineering studio with offices in Kuwait, Portugal and France. With the Sharq business district providing the backdrop, among towers, skyscrapers and shopping centres, BBT Hilltop already stands out as an artistic landmark and a gathering place for all kinds of occasions.
In keeping with the restaurant’s philosophy of using products of natural origin, the studio opted to use basic materials in its construction, but when all are combined, they give it a distinctly contemporary character.
The restaurant proper is on street level and is finished in matt paint and metal mesh on the outside, while the interior features glossy white ceramics, in stark contrast against the red floor and ceiling.

But the highlight of this space is the building’s multi-purpose roof, which provides shade and protection for the drive-in and the outdoor dining area, as well as being transformed into a rooftop dining area so that visitors can appreciate not just the burgers, but also the view.
