“It is a well-known fact that good things take time”. This is how Johannes Kattus introduces Am Hof 8, the first private club in Vienna of which he is the founder.
Located on the square after which it is named — the Am Hof — the London-inspired club is located at number 8, which is now its oldest building. Johannes’ fascination with these clubs dates back to his time as a student in England and when it dawned on him that nothing similar could be found in Vienna. And so, the idea was set in motion and eventually evolved into a contemporary interpretation, materialised as a club for anyone, open to a diverse community with a broad-minded and cosmopolitan outlook.
Theresa Obermoser “designed” this social retreat, which was inspired not only by Vienna’s history, but by other things also. “As it was supposed to be like a ‘home away from home’ and an exotic place for all local members, it was important to create a bridge between these two worlds”, Theresa explains. “A local member wants to feel that they have entered somewhere new and extraordinary while, at the same time, an international member wants to feel that they have arrived in Vienna.”

So, the emphasis was placed on a rich and vibrant colour palette based on a mix of velvety fabrics and exotic patterns. The result was a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere, but with visual surprises in every nook and cranny.
