A great deal has already been said about the Ace Hotel Toronto, an establishment that opened in June 2022 marking the debut of this hotel chain in Canada. Located right in the heart of the historic Garment District, the new building was designed by the award-winning Shim-Sutcliffe Architects and reveals the vision of Atelier Ace’s interior design team.
“Our intention with Ace Hotel Toronto was to make a positive contribution to our city, a welcoming civic space where life happens and memories are made, and where both locals and their guests feel equally at home”, explains Brigitte Shim, co-founder of the architecture studio.
And since nothing beats creating memories while gathered around a table, the hotel has created three places to eat and drink, running from the ground floor to the 14th floor. In charge of this trio is the acclaimed chef Patrick Kriss, aided by chef Devin Murphy in the daily management of the kitchen and pastry chef Victoria Ammendolia. Continuing this North American chain’s long tradition of providing open common spaces, The Lobby offers the ideal meeting point at any time of the day. In the morning it warms us up with a cup of coffee and pastries, while later on it toasts us with cocktails, wine by the glass and light dishes.

The host hardly needs to do much to entice us to stay and make our way to Alder, the restaurant whose main element is fire.
