Attitude 128: Freedom

  • Freedom is resounding, it causes an impact and leaves a certain weight in the air. It's movement, it's choice, it's voice. It also means space: space to think, create, inhabit and imagine without constraints. At a time when the world is fragmented into opposing discourses and invisible borders, freedom today, more than ever, acquires substance and dimension, and re-emerges as a conscious, personal and collective gesture. Portugal remains here, firmly set by the sea, but gradually feeling and manifesting the repercussions of what is yet to come.

  • It is important to stay optimistic; even so, there are those who think this is just an illusion. Neville Goddard, American writer and metaphysician, said that everything is imagination. Not in the sense of fantasy, but as an ontological principle, where imagining is synonymous with creating. Let's say that it is intuition that drives this act of imagining, idealising – like a vibration that moves like a kind of breath (D'Anunziata). And this edition is born from that ‘breeze’. From looking at the current panorama that surrounds us with lucidity, without losing the impulse to create beauty, meaning and future. As if freedom were expressed in the way we choose the places we inhabit, the objects that surround us and the stories we tell: whether through the freedom of expression that shapes the spaces we describe here, or in the freedom of thought we share with you, as a quest to redefine the way we live.

  • We went to Lisbon, Portugal's capital, to meet the duo Junto Wood Design – four hands that deliver vision, with a breath of timelessness and precision. Here, one stops to listen to the material, and an aesthetic is shaped with balance and intention. In the Art section, we revisit the Juan Carlos Maldonado Collection, a space that questions the hierarchy of art history, where humanity's visual thinking is explored in an expression that transcends borders. In a present marked by ideological contrasts and global tensions, we choose to respond with curation and awareness. We believe that freedom is also to be found in the way we select, how we give voice to things – in a silent manifesto that invites us to see further and feel more deeply.

  • Among the many other suggestions we bring you, leafing through Attitude is like entering an open territory. A place where creativity needs no permission and where spaces tell stories of identity with an eye to the future. May this edition inspire new destinations, new ways of living and new ways of seeing. Because being free is also about choosing the way we want to be in the world.
