Inspired by the compelling lives of the Archduchess Dorothea and Palatine Joseph in 19th century Hungary, the Dorothea Hotel in Budapest perfectly brings together the vibrant energy of a modern metropolis with the city’s timeless grandeur.
The Dorothea features unexpected spaces such as an indoor green oasis, the Anton Bar and Deli for outstanding coffee, the Italian osteria Aleli and the top-floor Andalusian brasserie BIBO by Dani Garcia. Located right in the buzzing centre of Budapest, the hotel is close to such iconic sites as the Parliament and the Széchenyi Bridge, shopping areas and sites where the city’s festivities are held.
The project reconfigures the rooftops into a new piano nobile which is accessible to hotel guests, residents and the public alike, offering unique views of this world heritage site. This architectural gesture extends into the heart of the building, transforming three small enclosures into a single, generous courtyard with an all-weather covered garden, facing the city and offering a beautiful view from the rooms in front of it.
