Perched atop a hill overlooking the centre of San Francisco, the house is just a short walk away from a bustling street lined with shops and restaurants.
With a clear inspiration in French architecture, Innen Studio was responsible for the interior design - "I turned to several French architects when I started designing this house, specifically Joseph Dirand," says Hana Mattingly. Preserving the historic quality of the building, similar to many flats in Paris, Innen Studio decided to keep most of the original architectural elements, adding a few contemporary details so that history and modernity coexist in harmony.
Warm neutral tones predominate, which combine perfectly with the natural stone and create an inviting feel, earthy fabrics and wood. A serene and moody atmosphere is evoked by inviting tones and materials. Design pieces and art by new talents, combined with vintage lamps, create a harmonious feel throughout the space. The atmosphere is peaceful and cosy, and the house exudes elegance, but functionally and playfully.
