It was in a house dating back to 1965, with structural details revealing a series of dark and compartmentalized spaces, that we uncover Jacupiranga House, set on the heart of Jardim América, in São Paulo.

Conceived by Brazilian studio CR2 Arquitetura, the initial concept was to “renovate and demolish the main block - occupied by service circulation, rooms and laundry area - and the two walls around it, including, now, a new construction as continuation of the dining room, a pool support bathroom, cellar and a gourmet kitchen.

Striking features include Accoya wood, cladding the main block to “camouflage the different cabinet doors and new environments”; the addition of a metal box on the main façade, enhancing the contemporaneity of the residence, or the L-shaped roof-garden, occupied by trees and gardens and accessed by the master bedroom.

According to the studio, “the replacement of the frames and the removal of the eaves” contributed to the sobriety of the structure, whose result is expressed under a modern, dynamic and typical Carioca style.
