A new iconic space is born in the heart of the Milanese district Porta Venezia, Italy, dedicated to citizens of the world that visiting the city. Indian chef Ritu Dalmia and Italian chef Viviana Varese are the names behind Spica Restaurant, a place that embraces the diversity of the world cuisines, blending inspirations, colours, materials and patterns.

Responsibility for the design was handed over to the Italian studio Vudafieri-Saverino Partners, which succeeded into transforming Spica into “a space capable of surprising with its unusual mix of Asian suggestions and homage to the masters of 20th century Milanese design”, the practice tells us. Occupying an industrial building with big windows overlooking the road, some original elements have been preserved such as the seeded floor - integrated with cement in the missing parts - and a wall brought back to its natural appearance where the layers of time are evident.

The combination between Ettore Sottsass’ irreverent design and the elegance of Franco Albini’s elegant movement define the unique atmosphere of the restaurant, where we highlight the big lamps in the dining room, designed by Andrea Anatasio and the impressive 8-metre-long bar, inspired by the Milanese ones of theee 1960s.
