In the renovation of this guesthouse in the heart of Trastevere, every detail was shaped to provide a calm and comfortable experience, always rooted in the authentic character of the neighbourhood.
The charm of the past lives alongside the ease of a contemporary setting, designed to welcome guests without imposing a pace. These are spaces for working quietly, reading in the golden light of late afternoon, or exchanging a few words with a fellow traveller. Places that encourage connection with oneself, with others, with the city.
The common areas were conceived as more than simple circulation spaces. They form a subtle thread that links the rooms, creating a warm atmosphere where feeling at home comes naturally from the very first moment. Comfort and beauty coexist here without excess, finding a careful balance between functionality and sensitivity to place. Corridors, too, move beyond their practical role to become an active part of the experience. They provide continuity, set the rhythm and reinforce the project’s identity. Warm orange tones, paired with white details, create a serene and welcoming environment, designed to accompany rather than hurry. Even passing through becomes an invitation to slow down, observe and feel welcome.
The private spaces follow the same approach, with particular attention given to the bathrooms. Designed to convey a sense of openness and wellbeing, they combine practicality with a calm atmosphere. Neutral tones are paired with materials that have irregular, tactile surfaces, subtly referencing honest and refined craftsmanship. Generous showers, visually connected to the bedroom through frosted glass, allow light and continuity while preserving privacy.
This hospitality project is the result of a shared vision with the client, who from the outset believed in the value of respecting the history of the building while offering contemporary comfort. Natural materials, original features and bespoke solutions come together to shape a welcoming space, ready to receive travellers from around the world with simplicity, care and character.
