Just a few kilometres from Aljezur, between the hills and the sea of the Costa Vicentina, The Lemon Lodge is a sustainable off-grid retreat, created in 2020 by four Dutch friends.
With solar energy, its own water-saving system and a local vegetable garden, the name of this property comes from the lone lemon that sprouted from a previously dried-up tree. William Boogaards, Michelle Hoek, Alex Vliege and Helena Mercera left behind the rush of city life and embraced a simpler lifestyle, connected to nature and the idea of providing a warm welcome to guests. Set among the typical vegetation of the Algarve and with few interventions, there are three ways to enjoy the experience here: Ziggurat, an elevated suite with a terrace and views of the horizon; Tikka, a two-bedroom house ideal for families or groups; and Mogadazu, a tent/chalet with its own outdoor space and views of the lake.
With experiences designed for the mental and physical health of visitors, the founders have created a space where hospitality takes on a new meaning with each stay.
