There are spaces that welcome us; and there are spaces that leave a mark on us. Indulgent belongs to the latter category – one of those rare places that brings together architecture, sensory depth and emotion in an engaging way.
A setting that lends itself to everything: an intimate presentation, a brand event, a birthday, a wedding, a conference, a work meeting or simply a few days of relaxation by the sea, where silence and light are an integral part of the experience.
Located on the seafront of Foz do Douro, with its unbeatable views of the Atlantic, this 1930s building has been rescued from decades of neglect and returned to the city with a bold and deeply contemporary approach. The renovation has preserved vestiges of the ruin – the textures, the marks of time, the scars of history – incorporating them into a project that respects memory without compromising comfort.
The result is architecture that breathes and engages with the landscape.
Providing a completely soundproof environment, with ceilings over six metres high, large windows that flood the lounge with light, and a sculptural staircase that leads to the bedroom looking over from above, and with its ocean view... each space has been designed to offer a unique experience. On the outside, the garden is the perfect spot for candlelit dinners and the rooftop offers an endless horizon, the perfect setting for conversations, toasts and sunsets that reinvent themselves every day.

The excellence of the project has been recognised with several honourable mentions in urban regeneration awards – distinctions that reinforce the structural, aesthetic and conceptual quality of this intervention, promoted by SARCOL and designed by the architectural firm José Carlos Cruz.
