Located in Los Angeles, this is a unique home entirely transformed by French-Italian designer Tancred Vilucchi, who runs the Maison Vilucchi studio.
In this house, each space tells a visual story where exuberance, surrealism and colours meet in perfect harmony.
Located in Brentwood Park, one of the most prestigious and coveted areas of Los Angeles, this is the home of an American businessman, founder of several companies in the engineering and energy industry, and his wife, a Persian painter and photographer.
This two-story house, built before the 1990s, is a beautiful example of Mediterranean architecture.
The designer's main idea for the renovation was to transport the house's interior to a fantasy world where surrealist touches and elegance coexist— presenting a feeling of luxury and vitality in a place with a soul which connects with nature and which manages to be, at the same time, cosy and timeless.
Colours played a vital role throughout the project, creating a sense of flow between the different spaces. "For me, colours are a call for positive energy", says the interior designer. "Adding colours to your daily environment has an impact on your mindset in such a powerful way. When done right, it can be like a symphony."
Upon entry, we immediately feel a sense of tranquillity, with different tones and finishes in off-white, warm grey tones, white oak, and some brass details, which create a calm simplicity, but at the same time, a warm and elegant entrance.
The living room, inviting and abundant, is decorated in green tones that connect with the exterior, opening to the pool area and the lush backyard. A high gloss black shade is also combined with gold and light pink. Vilucchi covered the inner side of the awnings above the window with a banana leaf fabric by Catherine Martin from MOKUM to match the bathroom and contrast with the chic and calm atmosphere, providing some surrealism and energy. In the dining room, pink predominates, and we feel the fantasy in the place where the whole family gathers.
The rooms fulfil the purpose of resting, predominating calm tones, such as white and warm greys.
Natural and high-quality materials prevail throughout the house, creating a rich and sophisticated atmosphere. These include limestone, high-quality marble, white oak and walnut, various fabrics, mohair, velvet, leather from France and Italy, or solid brass for details and hardware.
The result? A comfortable, refined home and interior space that reflects depth and texture.
