It’s with the sound of traditional Portuguese mosaic paving underfoot that we arrive at this “meeting-point for different realities”. We are presented with a perfect symbiosis between classic and contemporary, and then overwhelmed by a feeling of absolute tranquillity inside this mansion, the former home of the Counts of Tomar. Located at the heart of the Bairro Alto, in Lisbon, the building, which has since been transformed into a cultural centre, hosts the community of Portuguese Jesuits, who are determined to “cross the Christian faith with urban cultures”, through a “dialogue that is open to the public” and by publishing Brotéria magazine.

Gallery, bookshop, oratory, library (public access restricted) and four work rooms – two of them dedicated to conversations on the monthly schedule – now occupy two floors of this romantic architectural and artistic language, complemented by sculptures by Rui Chafes and photographs by João Penalva's, endowing the space with contemporary art.
