Perched on the cliffs of Azenhas do Mar, on the outskirts of Lisbon, OUTPOST – Casa das Arribas offers an exemplary lesson in architectural preservation and low key reinvention.
Originally designed in 1940 by Portuguese architect Raul Lino, the property has been painstakingly restored to preserve the "Portuguese House" concept, which promotes harmony with the climate, landscape and cultural context.
The property has thus been reborn as a refined collection of seven private apartments offering the opulence of a hotel paired with homely comforts. All rooms are equipped with natural sleep systems by Coco-Mat, handcrafted in Greece using natural materials. The renovation project has preserved characteristic features such as whitewashed walls, stone fireplaces and terracota floors, now complemented by modern amenities: polished concrete kitchens, bespoke furniture and wool rugs from the Alentejo region. Despite their individualised styles, the apartments share a serene and refined aesthetic.
