With over a decade of experience in the world of design and architecture, Adri Clery is the driving force behind Atelier Interiors – a multidisciplinary studio that transforms spaces into sensory experiences and visual narratives.
Specialising in residential, commercial and hospitality projects, Adri advocates an intimate and meticulous approach, in which every detail matters, espousing a practice of "design with soul." We had the opportunity to find out more about her career, creative process and how she views design as an extension of the identity of those who inhabit a space.

LÚCIA RUMOR: Who is Adri Clery, and how would you describe your journey as an interior designer?
ADRI CLERY: I am an interior designer by title, but I see myself more as a curator of feelings – someone who uses space to invoke emotions, textures and meanings. My path has never been linear; it is woven across architecture, travel, motherhood, creative direction and a lifelong fascination with objects and materials that convey memory. Over the last decade, I have worked on high-end residential, comercial and hospitality projects under the aegis of my studio, Atelier Interiors, with the aim of creating spaces that have soul and thoughtfulness. My work gravitates towards what I call "silent storytelling": spaces that are rooted in their context but not driven by trends; and that are simultaneously restrained and warm.

Character, purpose and soul: these are the words that best describe your practice. How did Atelier Interiors come about and when did you feel it was time to create your own studio?
A.C. Atelier Interiors began in 2014, born out of a quiet but persistent desire to create more freely – to explore my own voice and to design interiors with character and depth. I had spent years in the world of architecture, often focused on the technical layers of interior design, but I found myself wanting a deeper emotional connection to space. With some encouragement from my (now) husband, I took the leap and founded the studio. My first commission was a small hospitality project, which gave rise to a series of dynamic commercial spaces. But as time went by, I found myself more fulfilled by the intimacy of residential work – creating homes that reflect the emotional landscape of the people who live in them. The studio has evolved – from a larger team to a more intentionally scaled configuration – allowing me to remain close to each project and to protect the integrity of the process.

L.R. Your approach is deeply sensory and personalised. How does the creative process for a new project begin?
A.C. For me, it always starts with a conversation – genuinely listening. Before a single sketch is made or a fabric is touched, I try to understand my client's rhythm of life: how they live, what they love and what they desire. The emotional blueprint of the project is formed in these initial conversations. With that, I begin to shape a narrative through feeling. I build tactile storyboards of materials, colours and objects that speak as much about the space as they do about the person. Light, texture, memory and function all come into play. The creative process is intuitive but well-grounded; it balances poetry and practicality. At the heart of every Project – whether it's a house, a gallery or a restaurant – is the urge to create spaces that have an emotional resonance. I approach each project as a kind of sensory narrative – a place where architecture, interior and identity can meet and speak fluently. It's less about categories and more about the energy that the space contains.
