In the heart of Kyrgyzstan’s capital, a new sensory haven emerges: a café where aesthetics and experience intertwine with unexpected elegance.
Designed by Jamal Ramis Design Bureau, this space invites visitors into a world where classic European charm meets contemporary industrial character — a visual narrative that celebrates contrast with balance and soul.
At first glance, the setting could be part of a cinematic scene: botanical tapestries, classical columns, paintings inspired by Ancient Greece, and a colour palette of soft beiges punctuated by green, orange, and deep red accents. An old piano — a legacy of the former tenants — anchors the space with nostalgic flair, while 19th- and 20th-century Viennese chairs evoke the timeless atmosphere of historic European cafés.
Spread over two levels and covering 350 square metres, the project embraces an open-plan layout that enhances flow and conviviality. On the ground floor, seating areas and an open bar define a relaxed, flexible ambiance. Upstairs, an open kitchen and additional dining spaces continue the experience. Outside, a charming terrace invites guests to enjoy food and drinks al fresco — a quiet urban retreat with the soul of a European square.
For Jamal Ramisova, founder of the studio, the concept drew from fond memories of European cafés and the monumental elegance of Greek architecture. “I wanted to create a space where history and modernity coexist effortlessly, without losing a sense of warmth and intimacy,” she shares. It is precisely this dialogue between eras and styles that defines the project’s core: a design unafraid to mix, that finds poetry in imperfection, and turns a simple coffee break into a memorable moment.
Material choices further enrich this sensory, eclectic approach: textured plaster walls add depth, dark wood furniture brings warmth and refinement, and functional shelving displays tableware and newspapers as decorative features. The painted flooring subtly modernises the space while maintaining a connection to its past.
At the heart of the design is the bar — a key element of the venue’s “to-go” concept — whose integration demanded an unconventional and ergonomic solution. The result is a striking focal point that balances efficiency with style, where every detail is crafted to welcome, surprise and inspire.
More than just a café, this is a space where design tells stories, where past and present meet, and where every corner invites slow living — with style.
