Roberto and Natalia Ortello's family home, which is in an Art Deco style building, is located in Milan's Porta Romana neighbourhood.
Surrounded by elegant early 20th century buildings around vibrant squares conducive to meeting up, it's also notable for its strong architectural identity, which has evolved with the city's pulsating modernity making it such an inspiring place.
The family brings together a blend of cultural influences – Roberto is Neapolitan and Natalia is Latvian – and they placed their trust in the designer Hannes Peer for the complete remodelling of their home. "They gave me carte blanche to reorganise the layout and select the materials. Although the owners were actively involved in defining the desired atmosphere, they embraced the architectural vision, allowing for a seamless design process."
The spaces were distributed in an L-shaped layout of approximately 200m2, with an emphasis on functionality and aesthetic richness. The designer co-ordinated the couple's vision and recreated their story with fluidity, ensuring seamless transitions between the different areas of the home. The centrepiece is the kitchen, reflecting the importance of this room in the daily lives of the couple and their children.

The natural light that permeates the home inspired the creation of an atmosphere of scenic intimacy.
