Located in New York's East Village, this loft has been completely renovated by design duo Evan Edward, who has transformed the flat into a luxurious yet relaxed city retreat.
The owners' passion for travelling, art and music was this project's primary source of inspiration. "As the homeowners embark on their journeys, they continually create lasting memories and carry fragments of the rich histories of the places they explore," says Josh Evan. Mainly used as a "pied-à-terre", this loft is a leisure space and a place of inspiration.
The loft is open-plan with a large living room divided into three zones - living, dining, TV and music. The main suite opens onto this room but is separated by a sizeable antique door the owners found when travelling to New Orleans.
The original brick walls and exposed beams characterise the project. Rich, saturated tones such as burgundy, bronze and deep blues make up the primary palette. Warm brown wood complements the authenticity of the materials used in the flat, namely soft and sumptuous materials.
"The authenticity and energy of the space is very powerful," says Josh Evan, co-founder of Evan Edward.
The designers already had a history with the space, having worked on it over the years with the famous model Erin Wasson, the former owner. This familiarity helped them understand how the current clients planned to use the flat, considering their travel propensity, affinity for art, and love of live music.
