In the heart of Brescia, halfway between Milan and Verona, stands a 13th-century palace decorated with frescoes from 1750.
Danish design firm Vipp has opened the doors to a 13th-century "Italian palazzo," transforming into a pop-up hotel experience that blends Scandinavian minimalism with Baroque maximalism.
Since 2017, under the aegis of curator and founder Edoardo Monti, Palazzo Monti has hosted more than 200 artists in residence. In addition to its artist residency program, the palazzo is an exhibition space that features temporary installations alongside a permanent private collection.

Now, the palace will take on a new dimension, combining art, design, and hospitality in a pop-up hotel by the Danish design brand. Conceived as a habitable facility, realized by Danish interior designer Julie CloosMølsgaard, Vipp Palazzo Monti is the 6th in Vipp's portfolio, a deconstructed hotel concept involving leading architects and designers in the exploration of architectural archetypes transformed into unique places that can be reserved.

Entering the palazzo's opulent gates is like stepping into an old master's painting. A voluminous staircase framed by frescoes in pastel colors leads the guest in an almost royal manner to the Vipp pop-up space that occupies the first floor.
Three consecutive bedrooms, including a hallway, a lounge, and a walk-in bedroom with adjoining bathrooms, are transformed into a contemporary suite with minimalist Vipp furniture and a collection of lighting against a backdrop of ornate décor and artwork. Danish interior designer Julie CloosMølsgaard envisioned the bedrooms and the combined kitchen and dining area occupying the ground floor. Here, in the so-called "piano nobile", we find a V1 modular kitchen island by Vipp in matte black, which is the center of a curious dialogue between contemporary industrial design and a loft of historic Venetian frescoes, with a floor with handcrafted local jade tiles. The repeating accents in green are reminiscent of the region's 17th-century interior style.

Vipp Palazzo Monti will open its doors on April 18, 2023, on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile, which, at that time, transformed Italy into the world's epicenter of design.
