In one of LA's most vibrant areas, Prince Design Studio's latest project combines materials and textures that reflect the personality of a close-knit family.
A functional, elegant, and comfortable beach house aligned with the owners' needs was Orie Prince's proposal for this four-bedroom villa in Venice Beach. The creative process of the director of Prince Design Studio combines concepts of human psychology with the principles of Feng Shui and intentional design.
Throughout the project, the interior designer's decisions were guided by how the family wanted to feel in their new home: safe, comfortable and able to unwind after busy days.
For this home, Orie's goal was to create an aesthetically beautiful space that truly reflected the essence of this family of five—they weren't looking for trends, but alignment; a place where everyone could rest, feel safe, and connect.
The designer's task was to translate these emotional needs into something tangible. Together with the team, Orie Prince selected natural materials that are rich in texture and age gracefully. Each element was chosen not only for its beauty, but also for the sensations it conveys—Portola Roman clay for its warmth and depth, Zellige tiles to add texture and movement to the space, some rustic white oak carpentry for its softness and stability, and Taj Mahal quartz with leather finishes for subtle organic elegance.
Orie wanted the furniture to transmit a sense of emotional generosity and understated expressiveness. He incorporated rounded shapes, soulful textures, vintage pieces, and selected art into the design to create a deeply lived-in and loved home. All choices were made based on comfort, personality, and support for the family's lifestyle.
