In this house in Eagle Rock, each space is more than mere material; it's an open book of memories and experiences, where Karan and Sapna Aggarwal's design gives life to unique and timeless narratives.
Comfort, elegance, irreverence and timelessness. From this harmonious and natural relationship of elements, the personality and signature of the Ellenwood project are born, a historic house completely transformed and artistically reinterpreted by the design duo Karan and Sapna Aggarwal from the Bungalowel studio. This residence stands amidst the typical trees of Eagle Rock in Los Angeles and surprises with its authenticity and how every detail has been carefully thought out.
The residence, previously marked by an outdated, fragmented and weathered configuration, underwent a remarkable transformation over the course of twelve months. The design duo, Karan and Sapna Aggarwal, preserved its authenticity while adding sophistication, recreating this 5-bedroom home with 4 full bathrooms and a guest bathroom. Their ability to breathe new life into old spaces is evident in every corner of the residence.
The design was inspired by European elegance and artisanal charm. The rich, sophisticated tones that dominate the spaces, from the House of Hackney wallpapers to the carefully selected furniture, create an atmosphere that invites you to relax, combining all the elements into a perfect whole. The European-inspired colour palette, rich hues and refined tones unite all the components. Unlacquered brass raw copper and fine bricks from Cle Tile highlight the artisanal details, from objects to handmade Moroccan taps. The integration of modern systems was challenging, but carried out with the utmost respect for the original structure, keeping the soul of the house intact while adding the necessary comforts of the new times.
In addition to the interior transformations, the attention paid to the outdoor spaces resulted in a carefully designed leisure area to receive and relax. A barbecue area was integrated, complemented by a dining area. The lush environment, with carefully combined plants, reveals the extension and union of the comfort of the interior of the house. The garden, with a large deck, surrounds the pool and a small vegetable garden, reinforcing the connection with nature.
The Ellewood project thus reveals itself as being designed by ways of being that have transformed this place into an open book for writing new stories.
