The first project with the signature BOA Hotels transformed the historic Bairro do Silva in Porto, preserving and respecting the place's memory and creating a unique experience of comfort and design.
We are in the heart of the city of Porto, next to Trindade station. In the place where a typical "island" was established at the end of the 19th century, there are now 40 houses and two commercial spaces divided into five buildings. With a concierge service that resembles the quality of a 5-star boutique hotel and excellent technology to create a unique experience, the BOA Hotels group designed an experience for the Village concept that recreates the feeling of being at home with a hotel service. It is a response to the increasing demand for apartments as tourist accommodation.

“OUR HOME IS YOUR HOME”
It is with the feeling of “home away from home” that Village by BOA welcomes its guests. The accommodation is split into three categories – Duplex, Studio and Apartment – ranging in size from 30-85m2 and 1-2 bedrooms. Whether travelling for leisure or work, guests return to a home designed as an oasis where they can rest, cook and even work.
Every home has a fully equipped kitchen that invites guests to prepare their meals with the help of the New York Times award-winning cookbook, also available in each apartment.
All homes are cleaned daily, and concierge service can be reached directly by live chat while sitting on the sofa. Here, luxury is directly related to privacy. With that in mind, technology is employed for the convenience of pre-arrival online check-in, with each guest being given a personal code to enter the building and their homes.
Village includes a 24/7 fitness centre and a local deli that seeks to support all guests, enriching their experience.

ARCHITECTURE AND SERENE INTERIORS
The architecture firm Pablo Pita, created by Pablo Rebelo and Pedro Pita, focused on achieving coherence in the accommodation as a whole. They left the form of the buildings untouched. They used strict preservation construction techniques in the houses that emphasised the concern for the place’s memory, preserving the wood and maintaining the painted beams. Village by Boa is like a town within the city. The aim was to give the houses cohesion, which can also be seen in the ash-coloured hues chosen for the houses, visible in the plaster, granite, windows and concrete. The steps to the entrance building are impossible to ignore, which, as with many other Pablo Pita projects, are a kind of signature feature. The exterior arrangement, designed in collaboration with landscape architect Hugo Carneiro from Mudita Studio, reintroduces nature and transports visitors to a bucolic setting.

Ingrid Aparicio, from Bacana Studio, was in charge of interior design. The BOA Hotels group's brief was clear: to create comfort in every detail. Bacana Studio designed the furniture, which was then custom-made in Portugal, and curated the decoration and art, which stands out for the work of local artists who recreated a tranquil and artisan-influenced ambience that beckons you to stay. Neutral colours were aimed for, constantly balancing natural light with shadow, and materials such as rope, copper, clay, wood, linen for the curtains, rattan and natural wood were chosen to create a textured environment and conceptual harmony. Standing in the courtyard linking the buildings is a set of pots over 300 years old from Mafra and a 3-meter-tall tree-shaped metal sculpture by international artist Zadok Ben-David. Each element confirms the recognition given to different forms of creative expression.

THE SPACE BY BOA
The Space is at the top of the Village building and is a 120m2 penthouse carefully designed to host boutique private events. Cohering to the project’s overall design, The Space is a versatile facility comprising a kitchen, living and dining area, working area and an inviting balcony overlooking the city’s skyline. Guests can sit around the kitchen island for a chef’s table experience or around a long dining table. The format is aimed at businesses looking for somewhere different to hold an off-site work meeting, workshops, chef’s table experience or any other small private event. The Space can be booked and used daily from 8.00 to 24.00.
