• Between the Pine Trees

Built on a steep slope and organised as five volumes, we find these weekend houses in Valle de Bravo, just two hours from Mexico City. Hidden away and versatile enough to accommodate large families with their friends, each home not only embraces but also absorbs the beauty of the surrounding nature.

Conceived by the Mexican studio Taller Hector Barroso, the five residences are similar in layout and arranged around a central patio, offering outstanding views to the lush green setting. On the ground floor, one can find the communal spaces, clustered around a central patio. On the top floor, three bedrooms frame the views of the magnificent pines.

More than simply transparency and connection, the houses are defined by the preciousness of the local materials such as brick, wood and soil. The last one - used to coat the exterior of the buildings - was locally extracted and combines perfectly with the warm tones of the interiors.

Here, plenitude is reduced to the essential. The profusion of nature is brought into the houses through the windows and contribute to the markedly gentle visual environment.
