After being distinguished by Imobiliário Magazine, it’s time for VdA - Vieira de Almeida & Associados new headquarters to win the prestigious Architizer A+Awards, in the category Architecture + Workspace. The project was led by the Portuguese practice Openbook Architecture, in collaboration with PMC Arquitectos, and wanted to preserve the brand’s placement and philosophy, without neglecting the focus on technology and innovation.
The old warehouse is now VdA’s new offices, blending the old industrial character with a new fresh and contemporary image. In order to do that, the studio decided to keep some of its original elements, such as the existing vaults, the metallic elements and the great brick walls, thus exploiting natural daylight within the premises.
Through the careful combination between textures, tonalities and shapes, the new headquarters explore the key elements of each space, bringing together in the same building three informal meeting rooms and 23 traditional ones, an auditorium, a library, an art gallery, a music studio and a medical office, but also 157 offices for a total of 380 workstations.
