Located on Bristol’s Gloucester Road, we find Pigsty, a new restaurant and bar with an industrial aesthetic and contemporary attitude. Phoenix Wharf was the company responsible for the development of the interior design and wanted to create a “town-and-country” concept by mixing old and new elements. The result is a fun and stylish environment, with the butcher’s shop tiling and warm green herringbone timber.

Here they have made the most of the structural imperfections of the local architecture, exploring the roughness of a simple and rustic, which manages to be contemporary at the same time. The combination of wood and concrete shows exactly that: “wood is perfect for the project, not only for its natural warmth and organic feel, but also because of its link to farm buildings. The scheme additionally includes a number of recycled farm doors with Pigsty branding”, explained Emma Gullick, senior designer at the Bristol-based practice.

The 100-cover inviting and comfortable space offers high-quality dishes based around “good quality, local produce, and the company’s own pork products from the Jolly Hog." Pigsty is also the perfect place to families, couples, group diners or just to takeaway.
