Located in the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles, we uncover a 2000 square foot industrial loft, one of the most recent and sophisticated projects by LA and San Francisco-based design practice Marmol Radziner.

One of the main concerns during the process revolved around the creation of a minimal, yet elegant and comfortable place. After the removal of existing walls, 4 new spaces were born, keeping the raw concrete floors in some areas and raising the living floor with grey oak herringbone flooring in others.

Not only the warm palette of greys and black contribute to enhance a more intimate and cozy feeling, but also different woods, textures and metal finishes bring more warmth to the space. Vintage lounge chairs, a large walnut table and comfortable ottomans embody the house’s still unpolished and simple character.

Separating the living room from the bedroom is a custom bookcase that rotate 180 degrees. The second bedroom was removed to make way for a big master suite, with a sitting area, and includes surfaces to relax, watching a movie or eat and drink, like in the rest of the apartment.
