New York studio Grzywinski + Pons designed the interiors and concept for the new aparthotel Urban Villa London, bringing the comfort and hospitality of a boutique hotel into this typology of accommodation.
Located in West London, apart from the 100 rooms, the Urban Villa also offers public spaces such as a café and a bar on the ground floor, side by side with the reception area. The several functions seem to function naturally, thanks to the space’s design. “We chose a palette that is bright and welcoming yet robust and functional — an environment where it felt just as natural to ask for extra towels as it would to order a cocktail,” say the designers at Grzywinski + Pons.
Struggling to design for an existing building with no special character, the rooms followed the same shades as in the public spaces, with additional custom-made furniture, in tune “with the aspirational feel of a design forward hotel”.
