The most recent furniture line by Japanese studio Nendo is named Tokyo Tribal Collection, and was presented during the latest Maison & Object Asia. The collection was developed for industry+, a brand from Singapore that aims to connect craftsmanship with the Asian industry.

The 22 pieces with a simple design and small proportions include stools, chairs, tables and shelves, with structures made from oak wood, combined with bamboo rattan hand-woven in the Philippines.

On the chairs, the bamboo is used in the backrest, due to its flexibility and comfort. For the tables and other pieces, the bamboo rattan is applied in a less conventional way to “meld the concepts of furniture and miscellaneous interior goods into one”, explain the designers at Nendo.
