In the heart of Green Community West — one of Dubai’s most peaceful, tree-lined neighbourhoods — designer Amna Chaudhry, founder and creative director of Amna Chaudhry Interiors, found the ideal setting to realise her most personal project yet: the home she designed for her own family.
More than a design exercise, this was an opportunity to materialise her aesthetic language — a synthesis of timeless elegance, everyday comfort and emotional authenticity.
“This is our personal home, and it was the first one I designed for our family after launching my design firm,” Amna explains. “We were looking for a property with storong architectural bones that we could renovate and make our own. Although we had been exploring other neighborhoods, it was this particular house that ultimately drew us to Green Community. I saw a level of potential in the floor plan that felt rare in Dubai, and I knew we could transform it into something special for our family. I also knew the architectural style was very complimentary to our aesthetic so it was a great fit.”
Built in 2008, the residence features Spanish Revival elements — evident in the terracotta roof tiles, the arches and the stucco façade. Amna preserved its original charm but reinterpreted it through a contemporary lens. The choice of location was intentional: Green Community West combines the calm of a suburban retreat with the convenience of city proximity — a balance reflected in the home’s atmosphere.

Inspired by Parisian sophistication and the elegance of New York brownstones, Amna created a dialogue between European and American influences, softened by a Mediterranean palette that responds to the local light and climate. The starting point was defined by two key elements: Breccia Capraia marble, chosen for the kitchen, and an ILVE cooker — vintage and handcrafted in spirit. These two pieces ultimately set the tone for the entire project.
The ILVE range brought a slightly antique feel, which led us to incorporate vintage pieces throughout the home,” she says. “The marble, with its cream base and purple veining, became a reference point for the overall aesthetic. That balance between softness and boldness informed many of the decisions we made across the spaces.”

Inside, the atmosphere breathes calm and harmony. The colour palette is neutral — dominated by warm whites and sandy tones — amplifying natural light and evoking serenity. In smaller spaces such as the guest bathroom or pantry, Amna chose darker, almost cinematic shades for a more intimate feel. The kitchen, spacious and flooded with light, gained depth through navy cabinetry, a striking contrast to the Capraia marble. Decorative accents — artwork, textiles and furniture — introduce notes of rust, red and beige, evoking the New York autumns that Amna associates with her childhood.
During renovation, an unexpected discovery transformed the home entirely: the foyer ceiling, initially 2.4 metres high, concealed an original height of nearly five metres.
“I immediately called our contractor and asked if there was any way to reroute the ductwork to reclaim the full height,” Amna remembers. “Although hesitant at first, he found a solution, and what emerged was a dramatic, double-height space. With the added height, we were also able to increase the scale of our front doors, which now feel much more grand and proportionate. The foyer looks and feels twice the size, and it completely transformed the entry experience. I’m so glad we went for it.”
This space has since become the heart of the home — a prelude to what unfolds beyond: balanced proportions, natural materials and an enduring sense of lightness.
Measuring around 400 square metres, all on a single level, the house is designed around a fluid relationship between indoors and outdoors. Large doors and windows open onto the garden, creating visual continuity with nature and bringing serenity to daily life.
The result is a contemporary refuge with a classical soul — where aesthetic precision meets the emotion of living. A home that speaks of time, texture and light, proving that true luxury lies, after all, in the art of making the everyday extraordinary.
