As promised in our last edition – and following the presentation of the Capsule Collection from the partnership between COSENTINO and ATTITUDE magazine at the Cosentino City Porto showroom on the past 6th of November and at Cosentino City Lisbon on the 24th – we now reveal images of the pieces created by the designers.
These are unique pieces, crafted with the mastery of the LX Rocks team using Cosentino’s prime materials and are the result of an idea to use industrial cladding and finishing materials for household products. Being delighted with the quality and diversity of the result, these pieces will be on exhibition in Cosentino’s showrooms, at City Lisbon until the 31st of January and at City Porto until the 31st of March this year – and are especially perfect for the curious ones and fans of industrial design. Here is what the four designers think about this partnership.

A. What do you think about the initiative created between Attitude x Cosentino?
B. What motivated you to accept the invitation for this partnership?
C. What is the concept behind the piece created in collaboration with Cosentino materials, and what were the main challenges in its execution/conception?

CHRISTIAN HAAS
A. It is an unexpected partnership and therefore an interesting initiative.
B. We decided to work with Silestone, one of the signature materials of Cosentino. During our design process it got clear to us, that we would like to use this resistant material in a rather unseen way, both from a functional and an aesthetic point of view. We wanted to reveal the possibilities of the material. That was a challenging trigger and the starting point for the FRAGMENT shelf.
C. The design of the FRAGMENT shelf stands for attributes, that you wouldn’t classically associate with the material silestone: The shelf ’s appearance is curved, emotional and irrational. On a first view, it plays with the imperfection of an architectural fragment. Taking a closer look, the design reveals skilled details in its connections.

RUI ALVES DESIGN
A. Challenging and relevant, especially because it promotes the use of a material that we do not traditionally see applied in this context. This collaboration not only expands the possibilities for its use, but also challenges standards and stimulates innovation. It is a smart way to explore new avenues.
B. The creative potential of the project and the possibility of testing the responsiveness of this material on this scale and type of objects. Similarly, the opportunity to collaborate with people who have knowledge of the material in all its dimensions, from its production process to its transformation.
C. The idea was to explore the contrast between the robustness of the material and the lightness required for the function. The desire to explore the material in a three-dimensional way, highlighting the volumes in order to refer directly to architectural elements, such as structural blocks, pillars or monolithic forms. Being a material associated with architecture reinforced this connection, giving the pieces a solid and sculptural presence. The piece fulfils a practical function, which inserts it into everyday life in a natural way, without losing its formal expressiveness. The main challenge was to adapt the technical characteristics of the material – such as weight, thickness and resistance – to the design and production process of a smaller and more detailed piece, requiring a rigorous technical approach and close collaboration with Cosentino’s experts to ensure both the viability and aesthetic integrity of the piece.

MUSGO DESIGN
A. We see this initiative as an open space for experimentation and risk-taking. Attitude and Cosentino have created a partnership that invites us to look at materials in a creative way. It is an opportunity to bring together creative worlds and give shape to something that would be difficult to achieve in isolation.
B. We accepted the invitation because it brought together three dimensions that we value highly: the creative freedom we were given, the possibility of exploring materials other than those we are used to using, and the challenge. We enjoyed stepping out of our comfort zone and believe in sharing between brands, designers, and architects as a catalyst for innovation.
C. The lamp was born from the idea of creating a block of pure, hard shapes, similar to the blocks extracted from Cosentino’s quarries, and using the translucent potential of the material to create a welcoming light. This process, combining total creative freedom with precision at an artisanal level of detail, gave the lamp its character and identity.

FAM
A. I believe this initiative reflects well the importance of building bridges between communication, design and innovation in materials. This partnership values not only creative work, but also critical thinking about how we use resources and how they can take on new forms and interpretations.
B. The invitation represented an opportunity for dialogue between my creative vision and the potential of Cosentino materials. Exploring aesthetic and functional solutions with these materials, but also integrating my work into this editorial context that promotes good taste and authenticity.
C. The concept of the piece stems from the fusion of two universes: on the one hand, wood, crafted by hand and imbued with manual expression; on the other, Cosentino’s technological material, which recreates the nobility of stone. This combination translates into a table that values both tradition and innovation, bringing the warmth of handmade craftsmanship closer to the precision and robustness of industry.
