Valentina Piscopo, the young founder of the interior design studio Kuky in Dubai, has just presented her first collection for the home.
The pieces follow a subtle aesthetic that celebrates calm and well-being, perfectly in line with the interior design projects she usually signs. The collection features surprising details, such as the Havana cabinet's hand-carved handles or the Bambi lampshade's hand-stitching.

A palette inspired by nature
Green was chosen as the collection's primary colour, combined with some neutral tones. As the primary material, the brand chose wood, which is used in two shades: light oak and Burmese teak. Marble, in jade green, was also introduced in this collection for the Muse coffee table and in Arabescato for the detail of the Gavi console handle. "It was essential for us to include as many natural materials as possible, such as raffia, jute, clay and seagrass," he says. "The natural feel of these materials was my main inspiration when I started a career in design, and I still like to use them today."

Valentina Piscopo
Valentina began her career in the art world, working for galleries and fairs, representing artists and selling art in Italy, London and later in Dubai, where she is currently based. "Through this process, I realised that curating spaces was what I most enjoyed doing. So I decided to start working in sales, in a small shop specialising in handmade homeware called Tribe," she recalls. "It seemed like a huge leap at the time, but the moment I started reorganising the visual merchandise and styling the shop windows, I immediately realised that I had found my calling. I stayed in that job for over three years, and during that time, Tribe opened a design department - where I was introduced to interior design."
When I set up Kuky, I knew I had to position myself differently, so I started by specialising in e-design or remote interior design services, inspired by some big global start-ups," says Valentina. "It was something quite new here in Dubai and quickly became a reality for me."

Four years on, Valentina now offers a complete design service and has several renovation projects under her belt, filming interior adverts and video campaigns. Lately, she has been more involved as an art direction consultant for different brands, expanding the activities of her studio.
