A refuge designed in a circular shape that, springing up on a Greek island, has unfurled itself harmoniously in the arid landscape.
Located on the picturesque island of Antiparos in Greece and with a 900 m² area, the Lemon Tree House is in itself an island, a refuge developed in a circular (and unique) architecture, in an axial movement that fuses innovative design and a profound respect for nature.
Designed to enhance outdoor living and integrate naturally with the island’s natural landscape, the house is built around an exuberant lemon tree in the centre of the ground floor, which acts as the focal point for the living experience here and the convergence of the various spaces. The social areas — including the kitchen, living room, a patio with dining area, lounge with outdoor cinema projection and an infinity pool — offer breathtaking views across the Aegean Sea, creating a sense of unbroken connection with the panorama.
On the lower floor, six suites and a yoga room provide an intimate setting, ideal for moments of tranquillity and introspection. The layout of these spaces reflects the owner’s aim of creating a holiday home where family and friends could be hosted, promoting a balance between socialising and privacy.
The interior design scheme, carefully developed by the L’Éléphant studio team, is closely linked to the architectural project by DECA Architecture. Portuguese and Greek respectively, they were able to create a symbiosis that enhanced the owner’s aspirations and gave them an earthly touch.
The concept was intended to reflect the island’s landscape and culture — which it really does. For the finishes and furnishings, the team chose to work with Portuguese suppliers, and included prestigious European fabrics, such as those from Pierre Frey, and ethnic decorative pieces, including ikats from Indonesia and kaftans from Turkey. The kitchen island — one of the centrepieces of the design — was conceived as a functional sculpture that enriches the space.

The inspiration for the Lemon Tree House came from the traditional circular walls that protect trees from the wind in the region.
