From sports and exploration to arts and culture, Rolex’s recognition has been increasing over the past decades, becoming much more than a prestigious and elegant Swiss watch manufacture. As a result, the brand created the Greenroom in 2016, a place that aims to gather presenters of the Academy Awards during the Oscar Night before appearing on stage.

With a different theme every year, this edition will “celebrate the underwater world, one that Rolex is seeking to help protect through its Perpetual Planet commitment,” explained Arnaud Boetsch, Rolex Director of Communication and Image.

After becoming Proud Sponsor of the Oscars in 2017, Rolex invites guests to join an “underwater journey”, starting at a bronze door shaped like a hatch. The scenario evokes a world governed by the denizens of the deep, with references to the sea everywhere, from the color palette of oceanic blues to furniture. Highlights include the coral-shaped laser cut-outs on the walls and ceiling and the actual Rolex Deepsea Challenge watch that accompanied James Cameron to the deepest point of the ocean, displayed among the stylized fish.
