Three apartments dating back to the Catalan modernism are now yök Casa + Cultura, an accommodation concept for visitors of the city of Barcelona. Managed by the eco-designer Petz Scholtus and by the hotel management expert Mari Rodríguez, the whole project was developed based on the concept of eco-design.

In yök Casa + Cultura we find existing materials that were re-used, but also local or recyclable materials. The integrity of the typical modernist interiors was preserved, keeping the decorated high ceilings, the mosaic floor, the engraved glass and the sliding doors in the balconies. Following the sustainable perspective, yök is equipped with devices for an efficient water and energy usage.

It's on the terrace with a breathtaking overview of Barcelona that the hosts develop activities with the guests; these focus on raising awareness for issues of sustainable tourism, a subject particularly relevant in a city struggling to cope with the consequences of mass tourism.
