It is in the heart of Genoa's historic center, under an incomparable light, that we find this project.
Here, from the upper floors of a building whose construction dates from the second half of the 17th century, Dodi Moss recovered a set of interconnected spaces and terraces, giving life to an apartment that originally interprets the solitary character of its owner: a young engineer of the naval sector that spends long periods away from home. Access to the house is through a small door, 300 years old. The white lime, which borders the narrow walls, leads to the discovery of a space that, wide and generous, offers a unique and intimate atmosphere. We are on the fifth and last floor of a historic building and we are welcomed inside a house that preserves the charm of other times in the existing elements from the large and valuable wooden structure, carefully restored, which houses the main volume of the building in full view. apartment.

A black slate staircase, enclosed between two walls, takes us to a mezzanine where a bed and a wardrobe are placed. The walls, which define these fluid and interconnected spaces, are characterized by flat surfaces finished with natural lime. The mezzanine, next to the historic wooden roof, displays different wall textures that are also visible. The staircase also serves to define two distinct areas located on the fifth floor. On the right, just after the WC, a living area with a sofa, two abstract paintings and a simple closet. On the left, a reading area consisting of an armchair, a bookcase and a lamp.

From here, another black slate staircase leads us to the main room and goes up to the kitchen, located on the sixth floor of an adjacent structure, and further on to the terraces. Here, the view opens up to a sea of contrasting elements, an uneven set of roofs, towers, gutters and other terraces (affacciatoi, as they are called in Genoa), large and small, lush and arid.

Refined details and an unexpected layout are constantly confronted with simple materials, shown in their true essence. An extraordinary feeling of comfort permeates the house, wrapped in a mantle of skilfully restored wooden and masonry elements.
