Situated in Fort Greene, one of the most charming neighbourhoods in Brooklyn, NYC, this four-story townhouse, dating from the 1890s, has been given a new lease of life after carefully curating vintage European design pieces.
The architecture and interior design studio Ronen Lev, directed by Jessica Wilpon Kamel and Christina Akiskalou, was in charge of the refurbishment, drawing inspiration from the history of the building itself, French architecture and interiors and the "la joie de vivre" concept to create a home that is a true celebration of family.

The designers aimed to create a vibrant, unpretentious and elegant environment. They resorted to strong and complementary patterns and colours to unify the house's rooms and create a more harmonious atmosphere. Several shapes and themes are repeated throughout the house, such as the black and white checkered pattern in the bathroom (floor and details on the wallpaper), on the floor in the entrance hall and the bench in the living room. On the other hand, Ronen Lev opted for a more relaxed approach to design, reducing the formal idea of grandeur to ensure that clients could truly live and enjoy their family life. Deep down, a space where they felt good.
Ronen Lev used unexpected patterns, vivid artwork, and carefully curated furniture for this project. "We deliberately restricted the amount of furniture in the parlour room, allowing each piece to shine in its own right," says Jessica. "We wanted every element to have space to breathe."

The owners wanted to live in a colourful home that looked like nothing they had seen. A house that fully reflected the creative family that lives there. For the Ronen Lev office, this was a challenge they embraced with enthusiasm, as it was the first time they started a project with this type of briefing. In the end, we find a house where life doesn't go unnoticed, a house that is a party and that is, deep down, a real house.
