In London, in the prestigious borough of Chelsea, Whistler Square appears as na enclave where the Georgian past has been reinvented on the façades.
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, founder of the Banda studio, allowed himself to be imbued with the spirit of the place in order to transform a townhouse into a composition where geometry, restraint and atmosphere combine with rigour and functionality.
In a neighbourhood where every stone seems to know its place in history, a townhouse is discreetly rewriting the rules of contemporary luxury. Set in the former Chelsea Barracks military complex – now transformed by Qatari Diar into a prestigious residential area that combines housing, retail and public spaces, with a unique awareness of urban scale – this residence designed by the Banda studio is both a home and a statement.
Where regimental silence once reigned, today a new order prevails, made up of light, proportion and detail. With around 1,500 m2 spread over several floors, this townhouse includes seven bedrooms, two lifts, a private cinema, a spa with a swimming pool, a sauna, a landscaped garden and a terrace on the top floor – a space designed to offer exceptional living without losing sight of everyday life.
Respect for the building's imposing proportions, with generous ceiling heights and almost sculptural volumes, was crucial to a curatorial approach where every choice seems imperative. A dark colour palette – blue, brown and burgundy – punctuates the sandy base colour of the interiors, where natural textures and subtle contrasts pervade the spaces, giving each room its own identity without compromising the overall tone. The generous natural light was treated like a raw material: it amplifies textures, dramatizes silhouettes and gives depth to the silences.

Nothing here is gratuitous. The Écume sofa in alpaca by Dedar interacts with the microcement table designed by Banda without either element stealing the other's silence.
