Architect Filipe Paixão from Corpo Atelier recovered an old rural house in a village in Portugal, by only leaving from the original construction the four thick stone walls. «Has an open box towards the sky, these walls close a volume that is no longer divided by floors, presenting now its true geometrical potential», says Filipe Paixão.
The intricate geometrical puzzle made of wood pillars and beams, originates from the wood structure that supports the roof and was prolonged vertically throughout the whole interior of the house. The rooms and other private areas develop from this nucleus organized in independent volumes created by the wood structure.
