There’s a time that exists in its entirety, waiting to be savoured. And there are places that need no explanation, finding their way into our minds before we fully understand them. Sterrekopje belongs to that rare intersection.
Nestled between towering mountains and a landscape that has a rhythm all of its own, this place defies any conventional classification. It’s not just a hotel, nor is it merely a retreat – it’s a place suspended between nature, listening and presence. A respite where the body rediscovers what the fast pace of daily life tends to make us forget.
Founded by Nicole Boekhoorn and Fleur Huijskens, the project sprang from an intuitive impulse: to regenerate the land so that, almost inevitably, it might also transform those who pass through it. Nothing here is overthought, which allows its character to reveal itself with greater clarity. The experience is built up in layers – in the stillness that slows the inner rhythm, in the silence that deepens, in the way the senses return to a state of fulfilment.

Across some 50 hectares, everything unfolds without any sense of pomposity. Fertile gardens, peaceful waters, animals and paths that are shaped more by intention than by geometry. In this place, days are not scheduled or planned; they simply happen. Between rituals and the rhythms of the farm itself, the experience oscillates between contemplation and participation, allowing each visitor to find their own pace.
