Jumeirah Islands is the address of the latest project by the Creating Homes Interiors studio – a villa where design challenges the conventional and embraces creativity.
On the seafront, in one of Dubai’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, Villa Verde evokes the glamour of Beverly Hills, with an artistic and neoclassical twist. “We were drawn to this project because the clients had a clear and passionate vision for their home,” remembers Claudia Baliyan, co-founder of Creating Homes.
At the centre of the project is a sculptural staircase that connects the different floors - a special request from the owner who fell in love with the famous staircase at the Edition Hotel in New York. “The clients didn’t just want a beautifully designed space — they wanted a home with a soul that truly reflected their personalities, lifestyles, and artistic spirit.” explains the designer. “The opportunity to craft interiors that tell a story, evoke emotions, and bring warmth and life into every corner made this project both exciting and fulfilling for us.”
Given the eclectic taste of the owners, the designers created distinct spaces throughout the villa. “Each room has been crafted with its own personality, ensuring that no two areas look or feel the same.” The family’s extensive art collection was also taken into account in the project: “We have created multiple gallery-like spaces throughout the villa,” says Claudia Baliyan. “This adds layers of texture and character.”
The exterior features an exotic design, incorporating a lush landscape and natural elements that together create an immersive, tropical retreat. Through large windows and sliding glass doors, the link from the interior of the house to the garden is light and fluid.
In the colour palette carefully chosen for this project, green and khaki tones stand out, at the request of Rumana Nazim (the owner of Villa Verde). “Inspired by her Indian background, we have included cultural and artistic motifs in subtle yet impactful ways – through patterns, textures, and design elements that pay homage to her heritage,” the Creating Homes co-founder explains.
The materials were selected to reflect the clients’ bold vision. The natural wood flooring provides comfort and balance, complementing the rich earthy colour scheme. Marble is present in different elements - such as the dining table, kitchen worktops, fireplace, and bathrooms - adding a luxurious and refined touch to the spaces. In the bathroom and living room, the wallpapers feature unique patterns that take the imagination to exotic tropical islands, conveying depth, character, and visual interest to the rooms.
“This combination of vibrant colors such as green and burgundy, organic materials, and layered textures ensures a visually striking, elegant, and deeply personal living environment,” Claudia Baliyan says.
